Not only is Matt Forte pleased about his new four-year deal with the Chicago Bears, but owners have to be pleased as well knowing that the running back won?t be holding out during training camp and be in tip-top shape for the start of the fantasy football 2012 season.
The argument can be made that no player in the NFL deserved a contract more than Forte considering the type of numbers he?s produced over his first four seasons in Chicago. Since joining the league in 2008, Forte has appeared in 60 games and recorded 6,218 yards from the line of scrimmage to go along with 39 touchdowns?which is beyond impressive for any player during a four-year span.
Now that Forte is going to be paid like one of the top running backs in the league, it?s time for him to prove that he?s worth the money Chicago is willing to invest in him. Just like some of the other running backs on this list, Forte has proven to be just as much of a threat in the passing game as the ground game and is capable of turning a simple screen pass into a touchdown.
Obviously, it?s players like Forte that fantasy owners love to snag up early since he?s more likely to rack up more yards than most running backs in the receiving game?which means more points. As the ninth best running back on this list, Forte will most likely be selected in the second round at the earliest, but don?t expect him to fall far beyond that.
